How long does it take to create a memorial?
The timeline for a custom granite headstone typically ranges from 12 to 16 weeks, depending on the complexity of the design and the specific materials chosen. Large memorials or more complex shapes may take longer to arrive to us from the quarry. We can give you are more accurate estimation on your consulation as many factors come into play such as where the granite is sourced and what is in stock at the quarry.
Can you add an inscription to an existing headstone?
Yes, we specialise in adding professional lettering to existing memorials. Our team ensures that the new inscription matches the original style and font as closely as possible, maintaining the memorial's visual continuity.
Do you handle permit applications for cemeteries?
Absolutely. We manage all the necessary paperwork and permit applications with the local authorities and churchyards to ensure that your chosen memorial meets all specific site regulations and requirements. We ask that the deed holder of the grave in question sign our permit application form on consultation so that we can apply for your permit as soon as possible.
Does my memorial need an anchor system?
It depends. Pre 2005, headstones were often held in place simply by their own weight or with weak cement joints. The safety anchors changed this by providing a mechanical link between the stone and the earth:
A modern NAMM-approved system typically involves a stainless steel rod (often around 700mm or 2.3 feet long) that passes through the memorial’s base and foundation directly into the soil beneath. Even if the cement joint breaks, the anchor 'locks' the stone in place, preventing it from falling flat.
Any memorial moved from its location and subsequently refixed to said location that doesn't have an anchor system, or new memorials that are erected must have one installed for the safety of the public.
